So, I have a confession to make. I was not that in tune with who Nonpoint was or really followed who they are up to this point. I have heard their name and even saw their name pop up a few times as they were coming through town. I never took the time to find out who they were or what they are about.
Well…last week I found out exactly who Nonpoint are, and what they are about. They were the opening act for Blackstone Cherry, one of my favorite bands. I was excited for this opportunity to explore a new group. Suffice to say…Nonpoint did not disappoint me. They are an incredible band. So much raw energy throughout the show!
There were folks in the crowd that were there specifically to see Nonpoint, which was apparent from the beginning. They were huge fans, singing every lyric word for word at the top of their lungs. It was great to witness. It was obvious that Nonpoint was their favorite band. And we all know how great it is to see your favorite band live. Nothing better. These fans were embracing the moment. It was fun to watch.
Nonpoint hails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The current lineup is vocalist Elias Soriano, drummer Robb Rivera, rhythm guitarist Rasheed Thomas, bassist Adam Woloszyn, and lead guitarist Jaysin Zeilstra. Their first album was released in 1997. Their last full release, “To The Pain”, was released in 2019, but have recently released a single, “Underdog”.
The show consisted of some their biggest hits from over the years such as “Bullet With a Name”, “What a Day”, and a definite crowd favorite, a cover of the song “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins.
Even though I’m late to the party, I’d say it’s better late than never. Hope to catch them again soon!
